In the spring of 2005, Nick D and Brian met while working at a hat factory located in Maspeth Queens NY. Both working class kids from the neighborhood trying to make ends meat, they shared similar taste in music. The two started jamming in the basement of a building nearby. It was these early jam sessions that formed the skeletal structure of what DUMP BODY has now become. Scrounging up whatever neighborhood musicians they could to join the band, DUMP BODY started playing local basement shows around the Maspeth area. These shows are what opened the floodgates to a never-ending battle to fulfill the DUMP BODY legacy.
In and out of members, the two decided to book a real show at a local club known as The Redzone. Two days before the show the drummer at the time had quit. Refusing to back out of the first real show! A long-time friend of Nicks had agreed to learn the songs and play the show on drums. Acquaintance at the time and known neighborhood rapper, BIZ AKA OTIS CLAPP, was eager to work with DUMP BODY after catching them at one of the basement parties. He agreed to take the opportunity to rock out for the two days and perform the show as DUMP BODY’S front man. The four of them found local musician Kiris who fell in love with the grungy sound of DUMP BODY; adding her colorful melodies and thunder bass to help complete the project. They played the show in 2 days of time and never looked back. Without hesitation DUMP BODY played shows constantly. But stayed true the bands foundation, and continued to visit basements here and there, thus recording “The Basement Demo 06”.
Threw out these times the 5 was meeting and networking with various bands and people, A drum replacement was in order and in came Carlos from dirty jersey. The lineup and the product were finally together!
Over the last years DUMP BODY has worked tirelessly at molding and defining the gritty, working class sound that provides intimate glimpses into the lives of the band. Now stronger than ever, the band has played shows all over the NYC area including the Knitting Factory, Ace of Clubs, The Continental, Don Hills, Crash Mansion, Cube Europa, and many more. Their electrifying live shows combine the passion of rock, the fury of punk and the flow of hip-hop. In the fall of 2007, Billy Graziadie (Biohazard/ Suicide City) was impressed by DUMP BODY’S sound, he noticed a sparkle within the group and agreed to produce and engineer their E.P entitled “The Crackhead Motor Inn.” DUMP BODY recorded the 6 song E.P with Billy from December 07 to March 08, and released it on September 6, 2008.
Now a very humble experienced band looks forward to the future of creating new music, and continue playing fun interactive shows. This music is held in a special part of each members heart as they continue to do what they love best……make music.
